We have done a lot of math and have decided I will take Social security at the earliest possible date. I have read everywhere that I can apply for this at age 61 and 9 months old. That will occur in less than 2 weeks for me. Can I apply NOW? or do I have to wait until EXACTLY 9 months before my 62nd birthday? That would be on May 13th. Can I apply on say, May 1st?

I have Googled it and cannot really find an answer to this. I would rather not call the social security office and be on hold for 10 years. ;-)

Thanks.
