Just responding to the article Pixy wrote on SS in late November. I couldn't agree with you more as to how far SS has improved as far as ease of dealing with this government agency. I applied for my SS last year, 1999 BC (before I had a computer). It was one of the best experiences of my life because there was not one long wait, nor being stalled on the phone, by either being passed from person to person, or simply hanging on the phone waiting for someone to answer. My visit to my local office was equally excellent. No long waits (and I live in a huge city) no glitches, polite and prompt. I honestly couldn't believe I was dealing with a government agency. Now, I just received a letter from them about a month ago, letting me know that they had not included some income during this first year on SS, but it was not being included, I would receive my regular adjusted SS plus all of the back money in the December check in the amount of __________, and the amount cited was correct. In ny dealings with them in the past, the above was far from true. I don't know who was responsible for these improvements, but it is great to know that a huge agency like SS can really be revamped to work. Maybe the guy responsible can start working on some of the other agencies.

And thanks to Pixy for the Retirement's good to know that there is a good place to go for invaluable information provided on the "Fool Network" and even get some questions answered. I just "finished" the Retirement Seminar ("finished" meaning copied the info, but will be an ongoing "piece of work"), and it was excellent, also.
