Some items to be aware of. Yes not using the card after the checks is a good idea. Also , is there a balance on the card now. If so then that will continue to accrue interest charges while you pay off the 9.9% checks.
Also read the agreement. Many card issuers are now saying if you are late with any payment, not just theirs, they can raise the rate.
Chase had/has? this in the card agreements I saw a few months back. Any late payments reported to credit agencies can get the Chase rate driven up. Not just Chase accounts. Read carefully.
