Some traditions actually do exactly this. Jewish tradition does not permit a baby shower or a baby's room to be decorated before the child is born, because they believe it is bad luck, and also because if something does go wrong, then there are not so many reminders around.

Take off the blinders and listen to what you are saying.

What you are saying is that the Jewish tradition has a BIG problem with decorating a room during a pregnancy because it might be bad luck and cause somehting to go wrong, but sticking a medical device in the womb to actually terminate the pregnancy is okey-dokey with them because the baby isn't really "human" yet.

It is truly AMAZING how much you will contort yourself so that the obvious doesn't smack you in the head.

Laughable.
