Something doesn't smell right.

Why would Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appoint Mueller just after Trump announced he would not be selecting him (Mueller) as FBI Director, with broad investigative power which included the allegation that there were links or coordination between Donald Trump's presidential campaign and the Russian government as well as "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation". The scope of the investigation also included potential obstruction of justice by Trump and others.

With the findings coming back negative, following an almost microscopic inspection of daily activities by Trump and his campaign members and volunteers, how could the original accusers have been so wrong when their constantly repeated claims of these accusers were so definitive in Trump's guilt? Or were they wrong by intent? If so, why? Could it be that this was really all a diversion...a kind of smoke screen to cover what was really going on, such as an attempted coup d' etat.

It would seem reasonable the AG should appoint a special prosecutor to investigate this question, to see if all of this was just an ongoing symptom of TDS, or if there was conspiracy to over-throw a democratically elected president.
