Something else to keep in mind while searching newgroups--try deja.com. That gives you a searchable archive of newsgroups that might answer your question. It serves two purposes: (1) it might get you that really obscure answer while saving you from scanning through tons of unrelated messages, and/or (2) it might answer your question before you post it only to find that your question has been asked approximately four and half million times. Usenet folks sometimes get irritable with such repeats; it's generally a good idea to do research before posting on newsgroups, not after. Also, when describing your problem, be sure to include plenty of detail about your operating system and hardware (and occasionally software.) Throw in a catchy subject line and a succinct opening paragraph describing your problem before you detail it, and you're well on your way to a useful answer.
