Sounds like you are intimating that NT® is a kluge.

Windows has the same design problems that the IBM mainframe OS and the Intel architecture have basically they are locked into their past.

In order to be backward compatible they have to live with the mistakes of the past. Nmaely the 640K limit of the old XT, AT and DOS days. Basically Windows NT®, is a GUI built on top of DOS with some security(?) built in.

Lately, Microsoft® has been the patch of the week club. Not a month goes by when I don't get some patch for NT® or IE 5.0® to fix a security flaw.
