Spiegel science journalist Axel Bojanowski writes: 15 years without warming are now behind us.

I see the Germans use the word 'stillstand' which I guess is similar to Hansen's 'standstill'.

"Whitehouse mentions also that climate simulations carried out, such as those at the Hadley Climate Research Center, show standstill periods of approximately a decade. In the models, they appear about 80 years apart. Yet no simulation has a pause of 15 years. Also the models that run on the supercomputer of the Hamburg Climate Computing Center indicate such plateau phases. 'The physical causes are unclear, and our simulations show them at other times. With the presently observed climate development, the models are therefore not consistent,' admits Jochem Marotzke, director of the Hamburg Max-Planck Institute for Meteorology."
