Another intruiging device by a privately-held company. They make a valve that seals off unusable lung space in COPD (emphysema). The current procedure to do this is by major chest surgery, and only a minority of patients can qualify based on both remaining lung function afterwards, and surgical risk. This device can be placed by an endoscope, thus avoiding open surgery. Yet another good reason not to smoke.
