Sports (or at least *winning* sports with limitless salaries for coaches...have you seen the map that shows the highest paid public employee in each state, where most states it's the State U's football or basketball coach?)

I believe college coaches are paid primarily based on the revenue they bring to the school through sponsor and TV contracts...not from the state taxpayer revenue.

The real problem with government funded 'free' anything is it will, over time, become unaffordable, as there are no market forces to keep costs in control.

-Majors like Gender Studies, Art History, Modern Dance, etc.

And my favorite of all time: 13th Century Interpretive Dance! Which you'd never confuse with 14th Century Interpretive Dance.

If states wish to fund college for their residents, go for it! But pay for it through state tax revenue...and see what happens.
