Hedrick - From Erik Heiden golden boy to one trick pony, his barely hidden disgust with teammate Shani Davis not competing in the Team Pursuit was clearly visible when he acknowledged only friend Joey Cheek's Silver in the 1000m and not Davis' victory.

Davis - If he never planned to race in the Team Pursuit, he should have taken his name out of the hat long before Turino. His cold interview after winning Gold sent ice shivers down my spine.

Ohno - He loses behind the two Koreans who drove him into seclusion over the last 4 years (OK, not the athletes themselves, but their irate countrymen), and given the chance to accuse them of teaming up against him in violation of the sport's rules, he instead basks in the glory of his 3rd place Bronze.

Miller - He has a mental freeze and runs into a gate, makes a brilliant acrobatic effort to stay on skiis, then slinks away to avoid the media. Bode says it is not about the medals - that's the media. Apparently it is not about skiing or answering questions either.

Jacobellis - With gold in hand, Lindsey clearly showboats with a trick manuever better suited for the half pipe, landing on an edge and crashing into Silver. Her initial reaction is to claim she was trying to stabelize her board. By the time she speaks with Bob Costas, however, she allows that maybe she lost focus. Ya think?

Cheek - Joey deserves to be the standout American Hero of these games. After donating his $25,000 USOC prize money for winning the 500m to a charity directed at helping refugees in Dafur, Sudan, Cheek donated his $15,000 Silver medal prize money as well. The business community has taken note, with many corporations matching his $40,000 charitable larges, to the tune of $300,000.

Hedrick - From Erik Heiden golden boy to one trick pony,

Last night's event is known to be his weakest. More to come this week.
As for his attitude last night. Who knows? But, something doesn't look right.

Davis That interview post win was cold. He did say he was at a loss for words.

OhnoI give him nothing but credit. He said what needed to be said about the Koreans. He said they team up on him. As for his basking, he did make the podium and he deserves that credit. He went back to the Olympic Training Center to focus after sensing he was losing his way with all of the commercial offers. A stand up guy who does not deserve the criticism you are heaping on him.

Miller He goes all out, balls to the wall. It's the media who has made him bigger than life not the other way around. As the reining World Champ we naturally expect more from him. If you've never stood on top of a mountain getting ready to do what he does for your enjoyment. You don't know what you're talking about.

Jacobellis Show Boat plain and simple. Did more to spread the reputation of American arrogance than any other at the Games.

CheekShould have been on the top of your list.

As for the overall. I enjoy seeing the top of the best out there. I like to see the others too as they improve on their sport and abilities. For the most part these people devote so much of their lives and then get out there on the world stage for all of us to see, criticise and sometimes praise.

Remember that after the Games they go onto continue World Cup pursuits which to them is usually much more important. yes, they love the spirit of the games and being on the World Stage for a moment in time but the season marches on for them and we forget all about them.

That should have been one of the happiest moments of his life and I think that comments made by his teammates (like Hedrick's snotty "you skate 8 laps, 3 times", referring to the relay) really hurt him.

Davis became the first black athlete to win gold in the Winter Olympics. (And only the third to medal.)

He deserves to be congratulated.

He not only donated the prize money, he was quick to congratulate Davis when the results were posted. Unlike Hedrick who apparently did not congratulate Davis but did say "He had a great skate today. That's all I have to say."

He did say he was at a loss for words.

Not to mention an ounce of emotion. As for Bode Miller, the media doesn't make up what comes out of his mouth. He claims to feel one way, then behaves like another. You misunderstood if you thought I was criticising Ohno; in fact Ohno did not point the finger at the Koreans for teaming up on him, just that it was something they had to consider in preparing for the race.

Congratulations on winning the Gold, Shani, you're still a jerk.
