I am 62 this year and can anyone tell if I do not retire then, will the basic benefit be more at 63,or 64 or is there only a benefit for just 62 & 65. Ie; is there anything to gain by going to 63 before retire?

How & when does Medicare or Medical begin or become available?
Thanx anyone

Greetings, Bloomlate, and welcome. You asked:

<<I am 62 this year and can anyone tell if I do not retire then, will the basic benefit be more at 63,or 64 or is there only a benefit for just 62 & 65. Ie; is there anything to gain by going to 63 before retire?>>

The benefit increases each month you delay collecting Social Security beyond the age of 62 until you reach age 70. So, it you continue to work beyond age 62 (when you may take a reduced benefit), then the final benefit will grow for each month you continue to work.

<<How & when does Medicare or Medical begin or become available?>>

You will not become eligible for Medicare until you reach age 65 even if you retire earlier than that age. That means you will have to rely on employer-provided or private insurance until then. Many employers will NOT allow you to carry that policy into retirement, so you need to check that out before you retire.

If you were born in l938, your age for full retirement is 65 years and 2 months.
from http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10035.html#Part 1 :
"If you take early retirement, your benefits will be permanently reduced based on the number of months you will receive checks before you reach full retirement age. If your full retirement age is 65, the reduction
for starting your Social Security at age 62 is about 20 percent; at age 63, it is about 13 and 1/3 percent; and at age 64, it is about 6 and 2/3 percent."

Age 65. You can apply as early as 3 months before your 65th birthday.
