Last Fall we had to pull Youngest out of school half way through the semester for health reasons. His adviser suggested putting in for a medical waiver which we thought was all about not having the withdrawals count on his record. Much to our surprise we just received a check for for tuition reimbursement for part of the semester.

Hopefully none of you will go through this but in the event that your child is unable to complete a semester for a good reason, ask about a waiver. We had to jump through some hoops and get a doctor to write up a report about his condition when he came home, but he is welcome back at any time without the semester counting against him and with almost $9K back in our pockets.

FWIW,
