Many scenes in the news show crowds of unmasked, close-together people. They make me shake my head sadly.

Sure, people want to "escape" their homes. But why not be careful about distancing and masks? Is that too much to ask? Apparently they're no smarter than trained monkeys.

Get ready, folks. We're in for a tragic wave of new virus illnesses and deaths. And many who die will be related to stupid, careless people now smiling happily as they prance around fearlessly.

Strong, caring, clear-minded leadership at the top of our government could have saved thousands of lives. Too bad that leadership is missing.
