U.S. Navy Successfully Tests SoladieselHRD-76(R) During Operational Transit Voyage in USS Ford FrigateI found this off the Solazyme website. This was a test from Everett, WA to San Diego, CA using Soladiesel. The voyage was fueled using 25,000 gallons of a 50/50 blend using Soladiesel® and petroleum F-76 in the ship's LM 2500 diesel turbines, and marks the first demonstration of the alternative fuel blend in an operational fleet ship. All the feedback suggests that the operational performance of the biofuel was eqeual to that of traditional fuel. Hopefully another step in the right direction. Oley68
I don't think the issue is if it will but with the PRICE> Itis outrageously expensive. Throwing money down the black hole.
“Throwing money down the black hole.”I don't see how this is throwing many down a black hole. I apoligize if I am interpreting this wrong. With anything new, it takes time, money and an idea for success. I would also throw in a bit of luck. True, it is expensive now, but I think in time the price could and will become resonable. The tests show that their product works. The facilities in IL and Brazil will ramp up production and additional facilities (Brazil 2)will bring down the price. If all comes true, hopefully money well spent. Oley68
Good luck with the investment. Motley Fool highlighted it a year ago before Jim Cramer latched onto it.The price per gallon can be found on the Solyzmy website, but it is several times more expensive that conventional oil. You have the same mindset as Obama with the alternative energy. It is not happening anytine soon. That is the feeling of Engergy experts and not politicians and tv personalities.I will you well. It is a good story.
I know I do not have any type of mindset like Obama....I agree that this will take some time, but I like the idea and less then 1% of my portfolio is a good starting point to learn more. Thanks for your input....
Good luck, you are ok with only 1% committed.
