Since the stock of AMSC is doing well enough for us to keep our board, we might as well use it to post these snipets.

The Dec. 17 issue of the Boston Globe contains an article by Steve Miller entitled "After 15 Years, Superconductors Finally Heat Up" in which the reporter details the history of the discovery and development of high temperature superconductor (HTS) wires from 1987 through the present time. heat_up+.shtml

AMSC also announced today that it had achieved a key company benchmark with the production of the first saleable wire from its new HTS wire manufacturing plant located in Devens, MA. "Our goal was to produce the first saleable wire from our new plant by the end of December 2002," said Greg Yurek, the company's chief executive officer. "This is a very important benchmark because it is on the critical path to meeting the demands of our customers for the highest performance HTS wires at the best price in the world. Since we started test production runs in April 2002, we have put into use and qualified the new equipment in this highly automated, expandable manufacturing plant. We are delighted that we are now starting to serve customer needs from this plant, which we believe will be the primary source of HTS wire worldwide for some time to come."
