For years Suze Orman has been recommending putting your stock market allocation in the Vanguard Total Stock Market Index which mirrors the Wilshire 5000. She's now switched to the Vanguard S&P500 Index Fund citing the fact that the small and mid cap stocks (about 30% of the value of the Wilshire 5000 by market capitalization) have already had their run and are unlikely to out perform going forward.

Suze says that the weak US Dollar and improving Euro make large multi-national companies the place to invest. Most of these large-cap stocks are in the S&P500.
