The Group's principal activities are Gas and Oil exploration and production of natural gas, transmission and marketing and natural gas distribution. The Group operates in four segments: Exploration and Production, Natural Gas Distribution, Marketing and Transportation and Other. The Exploration and Production segment explores, develops and produces natural gas and crude oil, with operations located in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Louisiana. The Natural Gas Distribution segment distributes and transmits natural gas to residential, commercial and industrial customers in northern Arkansas. Marketing and Transportation segment provides marketing and transportation services. The Other segment deals with commercial real estate operations.

Our Take:

Like almost all energy stocks these days, SWN has really performed well in 2005. SWN has positioned itself well and we expect that the stock will remain in the portfolio for some time. The portfolio initiated a buy on the stock at 36.22 in June and sold 4 of the initial 30 shares at 46.98 due to rebalancing. Overall, SWN has returned a total return of 39.26%.
