When reporting stocks on your capital gains Schd D form, can you average several buy transactions into just one line item with an average price, as long as its all short term gains or losses? example;
Jan01 bought 500 shares @$50, feb01 bought 500@$60 then sold Mar01 @$75. On schd d list it as bought Jan01 1000@55 sold Mar01@$75. seems if you have a tax prep service do your taxes they charge per line item and listing each & every transaction would just cost you a lot more for the service then averaging the costs into one.
