Just a little note here...I've been reading George Gilder's latest book, Telecosm, and, while I'm only through the first 60 pages, I would recommend it. As has been said before of Gilder, his style is a bit flowery at times, and he makes some pretty bold statements, some of which I've heard refuted by people with far more technical background than I possess; still, it's evident to me that Gilder is a brilliant, well rounded individual whose thoughts should be heard and thoughtfully considered. For those without a technical background, Telecosm is a good opportunity to steep themselves in some of the history of fiberoptics and semiconductor technology, courtesy of Gilder's colorful style.
