This FAQ intgegrates relevant material from posts subsequent to the previous FAQ:
http://boards.fool.com/Message.asp?mid=27373824
*New* additions are marked. Where posts are best viewed in Whole Thread mode because of good discussion, I've added the Whole Thread tag to the link. As a board gets more and more volume, it becomes difficult to organize a FAQ in a way that serves as a useful starting point for new posters as well as an index for current ones. The easiest way for you to help is to check the current FAQ before posting, to see if there's a relevant thread already started, so that you can contribute to that one instead of starting a new one. Comments on better organization are requested.

What is TEOTWAWKI?

TEOTWAWKI is an acronym for The End Of The World As We Know It. Most of the regular posters and lurkers here believe it is prudent to be prepared, to some degree, for the unlikely event of a major disruption in our way of life, for whatever reason. This FAQ contains links to threads that have begun on various relevant topics. If you have something to add to an existing topic, please add it to the existing thread instead of starting something new, so that new readers can use this post as a starting point for the discussions.

Politics are not welcome here. Think of it as METaR for people with tin hats. (Tin hat comments are also not welcome. Don't come to us when you're starving and cold.)

I may have left some other good threads out on purpose (to better organize) or by accident. I volunteer to keep this FAQ up-to-date -- if you have additions, suggestions, or comments on the organization, please reply to this thread publically or privately and I will revise according to majority opinion.
