Texas still sends out stickers for the front window with the month/date in BIG letters. Of course, you've got to look at it every now and then. They do send out registration notices. Just sent mine in - you've got to get a car inspection first, and send in copy of insurance card, too. And $76 a year.

Inspection cost $25 and the inspection station checks the lights/turn signals, brakes, and plugs into the OBD port and has the car tell them if it is still meeting pollution requirements.

Took all of about 25 minutes the last time.

Drivers licenses here are good for 5 years or can usually renew on line unless you have a bunch of tickets then you got to show up in person.

New cars go 2 years before the first inspection.
