Ha...
In the past few weeks I noticed
No Robo Calls.

Then realized my phone was broken.

It was caused by a Long Long Long ago jack back put in by cable companies.
Cable companies use to attach their jack boxes to your phone line for pay for view.

I had to call phone company, as I had no dial tone.
They sniped the wires on that jack.

I now have dial tone and Robo calls!

happy with dial tone...Robo, not so much

We like our landline. It almost always works, even when the power goes out.

Robocalls seem to be lessening here, maybe because we so often say NO or hang up.

I would never give mine up...if I move I probably would have to.

Last night, we had a robocall at 10:30 from a hotel chain telling us congratulations on achieving something or other.

Odd? No more I hope! Hung up on them.

You're not finished until you block future calls from that number.

That doesn't work.Their computer picks many other numbers with the same message.I've even had my own phone number show up on the caller id screen from a credit card agency.

One of the reasons we dumped the land line last year. Don’t even miss it.

Cell phones have apps and I even get “probable scammer” pops up on screen. I can block lots of numbers too.

Of course it doesn't work if you're looking for a magic wand but I have 30 numbers blocked and if a number gets thru (about once every 2 or 3 weeks) I delete the oldest number and add the newest.
However if you're just looking for something to complain about, keep on cussing at the phone.

One approach I've tried.

After answering & finding a telemarketer on the phone,I say,"Can you hold on a minute,I'll be right back"

Then I wait till I hear the disconnect alert warble before hanging up.

One thing I have found that helps with the "computerized" calls is to not
say anything when you pick up the phone. Particularly if there is a "computer beep"
sound detectable. The approach doesn't work if you are expecting a call from a doctor
or something like that as they sometimes do not initiate a conversation.

Have this recorded & play it when you pick up the phone

I often answer the phone in the name of our local mortuary. It amuses me and befuddles them.

We get junk calls on our land line at the rate of 2-4 per day, sometimes...albeit rarely....in the middle of the night. We've tried call blocker but the volume did not go down. So we switched our answering machine to come on after the second ring, giving us enough time to check the incoming ID to see if we want to pick up. If not, then we've loaded this into the answering machine as the answering message:

Hello, we're home but are occupied with clients at the moment, selling them the world's best life insurance. We'd love to talk to you about your insurance needs. Please leave your name and number, age, gender and sexual orientation and we'll get right back with you.
