thanks for the reply... does she need to be aware of the cap for earned income that i have heard about - where you can only earn so much before you have additional taxes? (i am vague on this because until now i only listened to these discussions with little interest...) a roth ira is also a good suggestion...

that tax question may not be answerable in this forum, but thanks for pointing me in that direction...
