=TEXT(E3,"yymmdd") converts to the number and slips into the equation. If I put into E3 the actual date, the custom cell format didn't work, but this works just as easy, if not better for this and other cells I'm playing with. Took a minute to figure out the "" marks as a key, but it works. I think this will work. At least it will let me manipulate the input and outcome to what I want.
