While I don't own the stock, I do enjoy following the news. Frankly, it could go either way. At this point, Tesla's got plenty of brand recognition, there are enough of them on the road that seeing one isn't like spotting an original DMC-12, and it's not as if they had a couple hundred sitting on their lots waiting for people to buy one and drive it off that day. Getting rid of the overhead (or better yet, taking the other part of their statement and converting them from retail sales to full service shops so there's no loss involved in lease cancellation fees) is probably a good move for the overall health and future of the company.
