That the plan ended with the fall of Baghdad doesn't change the reality of the conquest.

Your perception of 'reality' seems to source from Age of Empires game. The modern reality is one cannot wipe out the local population in 'conquest' as they did in millennia gone by. Which leaves you with a guerilla war on your hands if the locals don't play ball with your 'conquest'.

The thousands of American soldiers who have died since Mission Accomplished would consider their death a 'reality' if they were not too dead to do so. To ignore reality is to be delusional. (Except according to Bush and the US media, its OK to ignore hundreds of thousands of Iraqi dead).

the likely consequence is that the War on Terror will go nuclear within the next few years. We'll win it then.

First Iraq, then Syria/Iran, then nuclear war... I'm not sure I'm interested in harvesting still more of these overwhelming 'victories' that you espouse.
