That won't work if all three satellites can only broadcast to half the country. You'd need two satelliites to reduce the load on both Rock and Roll.

Oddly enough, either satellite can cover the whole US. The reason for two is to minimize blind spots. With two birds in different locations they get a more uniform coverage. At least that's what I have been told.

Also, it would be unlikely that both satellited die at the same time. They monitor the health of each one, and likely know which is the weaker.
