That would be quite the conundrum for Ryan. Either work as hard as he can to be the Vice President for the next four to eight years, serving under a man he refers to as "The Stench"; or start the groundwork to be President in four years, when he won't have to run against Obama.

"The Stench" thing was a joke. But not to worry, Romney's chances of winning are slim and none. I've been watching the polls closely, and one area where Romney's support has really eroded is among older Americans. Apparently, Ryan's plan to gut Medicaid isn't super popular among people do, and who very well might need Medicaid.

And unlike Romney, Ryan's plan is fairly specific. He wants enormous tax cuts for the wealthy, all coming at the expense of the safety net. That's not a popular position to take, except among the heartless and the innumerate.
