I just listened to the audiobooks of the Bartimaeus trilogy by Jonathan Stroud.

This trilogy is nothing short of brilliant. If you liked Harry Potter, these books are a must-read.
The books offer more humor than the Potter series, mostly because they are to a large degree narrated by the demon Bartimaeus, a devious, cynical character with a great sense of humor, who is being summoned against his will into the human world. I recommend reading (or listening to) the book without much more information on the plot, I think that's the best way to enjoy them.
