The biggest part of the problem with Medicare is the poison pill, the unfinanced part D instituted by Bush (to kill it)

I'm pretty cynical, but I hadn't thought of that, and I believe you're right. (I only thought W's Part D was a ploy to get votes from seniors and the middle-aged children who who helped support them--a ploy that worked).

I am rereading Clan of the Cave Bear and The Valley of Horses over the holiday weekend (<TOTEM> knows, I do not dare venture forth in shopping madness this weekend!). I'm beginning to think Americans should each set up a pharmacopia (accent on herbal remedies) at home in case of health insurance loss if not for simple reason of efficacy... similar to having an e-fund.
