Facts Take a Beating in Acceptance Speeches

Representative Paul D. Ryan used his convention speech on Wednesday to fault President Obama for failing to act on a deficit-reduction plan that he himself had helped kill. He chided Democrats for seeking $716 billion in Medicare cuts that he too had sought. And he lamented the nation’s credit rating — which was downgraded after a debt-ceiling standoff that he and other House Republicans helped instigate.

And Mitt Romney, in his acceptance speech on Thursday night, asserted that President Obama’s policies had “not helped create jobs” and that Mr. Obama had gone on an “apology tour” for America. He also warned that the president’s Medicare cuts would “hurt today’s seniors,” claims that have already been labeled false or misleading.
The two speeches — peppered with statements that were incorrect or incomplete — seemed to signal the arrival of a new kind of presidential campaign, one in which concerns about fact-checking have been largely set aside.

Obama couldn't get a deficit reduction plan approved when Dems owned the whole world!

Poor leadership = Barack Obama.

He wasn't President then.

Having the majority is not the same as having control (as those with knowledge of politics know).

Bull.

Democrats had control of the House and Senate during Obama's first two years as President --- arguably the time when a President has the most power.

And Obama WAS succesful at getting those things he thought were important passed --- various gay issues and Obamacare.

He just didn't think deficit reduction or the economy were important enough to intrude on those things.

Bill Clinton did the same thing during his first two years as President, and lost the House and Senate after two years.

Do you guys actually BELIEVE your own propaganda and spin?

worse, Obama set up the bi-=partisan committee to make recommendations on the deficit.

When they reported back, he ignored it.....and his minions, Hairy Reid and Stretch Pelosi, buried it forever. Never to see a vote or even be discussed.

Cutting back on the borrowing and spending binge was never a priority.

OWE-bama was too busy playing golf, heading out on vacation and fund raisers, to even meet with his 'jobs council' every SIX months.

But, as Joe the Dufus Biden pointed out early in OWE-bama's career, JOBS is a 3 letter word and very important to the democrats. Too bad he didn't believe his own 3 letter word.

OWE-bama had BOTH the house and senate for the first 2 years. It was all about gay rights, gays in the military, terrorist trials in down town New York, protecting the muslim army terrorist who went beserk, protecting the New Black Panthers and their intimidation tactics......

and not about the economy and jobs.

He was busy on a world wide apology tour, kissing the hand and bowing to every muslim leader world wide.
