The Buffett/hedge fund manager bet is a good listen.

About 7 years ago when my wife was preparing to increase her 403(b) contributions as allowed for people over the age of 50, she showed me the list and asked me where to put her contributions. Having suffered a lifetime of sub par returns in my own IRA, I told her to put 1/2 into an S/P index fund and 1/2 into the next lowest cost blend fund. The index component is outperforming the blend fund as well as most of my investments.

Whenever I am chagrined by the fact that I gave her better advice than I follow myself, it's nice to see that she is also outperforming most of the hedge fund managers over that 7 year period.
