Managing servers is PITA. I love writing code to solve problems but setting up and maintaining a server is a whole different thing. Thank god I only need to do it once per new computer and maybe an update or two over the next few years. It's an arcane business with a 50 year old UNIX command line language that only engineers could love. Google and some helpful souls to the rescue. But before you begin, find a quiet cloudy day with nothing to do and nothing to worry about (like the market) and prepare yourself mentally for what is an unpleasant ordeal.

php is not working so you get an error message. The easiest way to get Google to help is type in Big Sur (the Mac OS) followed by the error message

Big Sur The requested URL was not found on this server.

The first couple of entries are useless so you wasted some time but since you are in "What, me worry?" mode you just plow on. This Google search proved useless. What's the problem? URL was not found on this server Try a different search

big sur path to local php apps

The sixth entry in this search is pay dirt!

Clear, simple, and useful. Got lost a couple of times but got it done. Here is proof

Pat yourself on the back, get some dinner and go for the next step, install the MySQL database. The above tutorial has a link to the MySQL installation tutorial.

Couldn't be simpler, go to the MySQL website, download your version, run the installer, and you're done!

Except the installer FAILS! Have to Force Quit because the installer DOES NOT RESPOND!

At least the websites that don't use a database work.

Tune in for the next chapter sooner or later....😇
