The car ran into a tree north of Houston after traveling at high speed and failing to navigate a turn.

So the car was on a suburban cul de sac, going at sufficient speed to jump the curb and attack a tree.

- Could it have been programmed to slow down or stop when it jumped the curb?
- Is there a way to better protect the battery so it doesn't catch fire after a front end argument with a tree?
