The Motley Fool Investment Guide recomends shorting about one fifth of your portfolio.

Criteria recomended are a PEG (Fool ratio) over 1.4, a closed situation, and short interest ratio of less than 5 days.

Juniper meets all except the "closed situation", but this is a longer term criteria.

I also add other criteria: a PE of over 100, and a price/book ratio of over 20. I also evaluate the stock price evolution with regards to the Nasdaq index, and with regards to the sector leaders.

Juniper seems to meet all of them. So I guess it is a good short candidate. Short it until it falls about 20%, the Guide adds.

Any comments...?
