The NPL said the effects of the ‘GPS rollover’ were ‘truly unpredictable’

Really?
Truly unpredictable?

More like we know about this issue but aren't too worried so we're too lazy to analyze any specific devices to simulate what might happen.

Yawn.

99.99% of issues can probably be solved by just powering off the suspect device before the rollover and powering back on after.
One of the primary algorithms in GPS is measuring a delta-time...so, sure, if this number is wildly large a poor implementation could go screwy. But you need 3 or 4 satellites to confirm a location and bad ones are already thrown out...keeping just the best 3 or 4. So most likely even the good signals will get thrown away and the GPS will keep hunting for good signals, which will then show up on the next cycle.
