Imad Shakur, an aide to Arafat, said Monday that while Arafat's health may have improved somewhat "his condition is quite serious."......

In any event, Shakur said, "From the political standpoint, Arafat's situation has already changed. The ailing Arafat is not the healthy Arafat we knew until two weeks ago.

"Even if he returns, and I hope that he will, he will not be the same Arafat, not for us, not for Israel, not even for himself. An old, sick man, who has different needs."

It sounds to me as though Arafat will remain in Paris now. His wife lives there, so the move will be an easy one.
A new era is dawning.
