The Traeger is just a wood fired oven.

Before gas and electric ovens were made, all pies were baked in cooal or wood fired ovens.

If you preheat the Traeger to 350, as you do a normal oven, the temperature in the combustion pot doesn't create much smoke at all.

So, while you may get a slight wood accent, you aren't actually smoking a pie. You're just baking it in a 350 preheated wood-fired oven like any old time wood fired stove or new-age chic pizza oven. - sano

Good point, now the resulting pie doesn't sound so icky.

I have an offset smoker and thought of the Traeger as also a smoker just with a different pelletized fuel source.
