One of the commissions I took this year was for a scarf for my co-worker to give his girlfriend for Christmas (she lives in Poland, he's here in Boston and he misses her terribly). The only requirements he gave me for the scarf were:

1) That it be a soft and fuzzy feeling yarn (I used a chenille)
2) That it be mostly black & white with some dark blue
3) That it be knit on the diagonal.

So, I made diagonal stripes with a super chunky chenille primarily B&W with stripes of the blue scattered randomly throughout.

Well, he looooved the scarf and was extremely happy. :)

But here's the ultimate compliment: When he was on his way home on public transportation, someone tried to buy the scarf off of him! And guess what the guy offered? drum roll please.....$80!!!!

Can you believe that?!

My gf took pix of the scarves I've been making. As soon as they're developed, I'll post them to the image station album.
