the Tim Dorsey recommendation, I just read his first novel and gobbled it up in two days. He is WITHOUT QUESTION one of the funniest guys in the universe.

Turns out we grew up one year and twenty miles apart. I have the utmost respect for anyone who could survive growing up in Riviera Beach during that period. If he went to Suncoast High, I am amazed that he is still alive (though it explains his familiarity with firearms).

The Serge character is a masterpiece.

Looking forward to reading his other novels.

Other than Dorsey, I have been reading:

Graham Greene: Monsignor Quixote

First read this twenty years ago, didn't like it, now I love it. Amazing how you grow wiser with age, isn't it? A story about a descendant of Don Quixote. Very worthwhile if you want to learn about Spain and its history.

Ursula K. LeGuin: The Left Hand of Darkness

Thirty pages to go. I like it very much, and can see why she is held in such high regard. A very "intellectual" science fiction novel.
