There are no screens for finding the best stocks to sell covered calls on that I know of. I built my own but as with eTrade you have to enter a list of stocks to check. On reason, I suspect, is that the list is extremely volatile in part because the inputs like expiration date and strike price and not continuous but discrete steps.

Not too long ago the CBOE "improved" their option chain pages making even harder to download the data https://www.cboe.com/delayed_quotes/vix/quote_table

I have not found any other site where you can download option chains for free.

This got both of us wondering if there was a way to screen stocks based on their call premium.

I use eTrade where they have an options income finder tool. I have to create my list of ticker symbols that I'm interested in trading. eTrade then analyzes which of those tickers has the highest return potential based on the filters I set (such as days to expiration, how far out of the money, amount of premium, etc.).

I also use eTrade, but I don't think we can run a screen for say, December expiration for all stocks and sort by largest call premium. Of course premium is a function of price but that would at least give a starting point.

That's right in that you can't run a screen for all stocks on eTrade. From what I can see, you can only run the screener on an individual stock or on one of your portfolios or on a watchlist. I have a watchlist titled "Put Call List" where I have 20 tickers saved for selling puts and/or calls.

You've answered your own question; simply create a watchlist with your favorite high-priced stocks and you should be good to go (using additional filters to get to the expire date you want).
