There is a Bond and Fixed Income board in the Investors Roundtable Folder. There you will find links to current bond yields and discussion of various fixed income investments. Properly chosen bonds could get you yields of about 7%, but because you have not given us your age, we do not know how many years you have until age 70.

You should be thinking about what to do with your money once you reach age 70. With longer life expectancy, Fools usually suggest an equity investment--especially an S&P index fund as part of your investment portfolio. In your case, you would want to consider when it would be practical to begin some equity investments.
