There is an important difference. The NJ law requires a judge make an order on an individual case basis, based on evidence of nutjobbery. I think this is a good and reasonable law so long as the accused has an opportunity within a very short period of time to present a defense and if sucessful can get his guns back.


Yes a judge must sign off. There isn’t a requirement of evidence; just an acussation. Every state law is different as who can make an acussation & who has to sign off for a return of firearms. I suspect these will reduce gun suicides rather than mass shootings.
