There you go - Tim, another bloke with a restaurant chain named after him! How's the coffee & donuts biz?

Not me, I get my coffee hot, black and strong from my "cup at a time" at home. Only occasionally out if we go for breakfast.

I could never understand the line of trucks thing at the drive thru with engines running. Now they are the best thing ever for those who have them. The food joints with take out/drive thru are doing a booming business. Our local Dairy Queen has such long lines they block the road on occasion.

Watching the horror show on the flat screen as covid-19 cases surge in so many places.

I really want to "Stay the Blazes Home" but wife has an eye appointment this afternoon. I'm suppose to buy glasses for myself according to my supplemental insurance website who noted that I haven't spent my $275 annual entitlement for glasses in the previous two years and am running out of time for this year.

Ramparts against the virus still holding ... down to 4 active cases in NS all travel related and in quarantine. Just watch someone figure out a way to screw it up! 😬

Tim ... doesn't own Tim's, I don't think I've ever owned a food stock? I recall a guy trying to convince me to buy Quiznos many years ago because they toasted their buns. I asked what would happen if Subway bought toasters? I'm always a bit shocked when people get upset because I don't jump on their stock tips?

Alexa says we are going to have snow flurries today, going to be a long dark winter.

<I wonder how Wendy's doing.>

I'm doing fine, thanks. :-)
The restaurant stock isn't doing badly.

This proves that not everyone is like me. The last time I ate in a restaurant was 8 months ago.

Same here, DopplerValue.

DW and I have not been inside a commercial establishment of any kind since the first of March. We don't trust anyone else's HVAC system or enclosed space until the number of infections in our area falls to a very low level.

We do have to deal with some exposure when we go to pick up groceries, as well as when we handle mail and the steady stream of Amazon, Walmart, and Walgreen's boxes delivered to our front porch.

I miss having a sedan with a trunk for grocery pick ups. DW and I both have SUVs, which means that the grocery store employee who loads up the cargo area exposes us to whatever viruses he or she is carrying. I've noticed that the store employees use fabric masks, often with their noses exposed above the fabric, and they tend to chatter while they're loading the back of the SUV.

This plague is awful.

In Europe there are lots of sidewalk cafes!

Chic Fil A restaurants always have a line around them. Not publicly traded and they are closed on Sunday.

I have no idea where you live but in some places people can eat in restaurants with reasonable precautions. We can even send kids to normal schools with precautions, meet with extended family for Thanksgiving dinner with precautions. Wife and I visited our doctor last week and she did a specialist visit a couple days ago ... all with precautions.

We can do all this and more because we haven't had a local COVID transmission case in months. All of the active cases we do currently have (5) are travel related and picked up by the 14 day mandatory quarantine for anyone arriving from away.

Tim <good luck and precautions to all of us>

Canadian ICUs brace for COVID-19 resurgence on top of the flu

When Canadians successfully flattened epidemic curves during the summer, the goal was to prevent hospitals and intensive care units from facing a crush of patients with COVID-19 all at once. Health officials wanted to avoid what happened in hospitals in New York City, where refrigerated trailers were used as temporary morgues.

But the recent surge of new coronavirus cases in all provinces beyond Atlantic Canada has already thwarted surgery plans and led to the cancellation of surgeries such as hip replacements at one hospital in Toronto and postponements in Edmonton.
