There's been a lot of talk about NAND and NOR flash but very little about NEID, the kind Apple uses in the iPod. What do you think their chances are of scooping the flash memory market?

Hey Denny

I really don't know what NEID flash is. Or are you talking about one of the upcoming non volatile technologies (guess not, if it is in the ipod).

I looked at the Sharp site quickly at:
http://www.sharpsma.com/sma/products/memory/docs/doc_lib/appnotes/tec_appnote_descriptionofflash.pdf
but nothing out of the ordinary struck me offhand.

Sharp is supposed to have Apple as a customer for the iPod flash.

Maybe it is a form of NAND flash?
Can you give me more of a clue?

Cheers
Cor

PS I was going to correct Tinker's spelling of Renesas, but had second thoughts, thinking of you calling me the Renesas ambassador at large;)
