Well we are finally starting to get some nippy mornings where a bit of heat would be nice... trouble is, the gas furnace won't kick on. I actually got it to start up about a week ago, but now it's just totally idle. T-stat batteries are fine, as is the fuse inside the T-stat.

In the past, we've had minor trouble with the thermostat where it almost seems like there is a loose connection someplace. E.g. if the cover is not closed properly, it wouldn't activate the furnace.

How can I verify that it is actually the T-stat and not the furnace, w/out the expense of a service call? Any ideas?

Cheers & TIA,
JB
