This is a main reason why Germany was so "fantastically successful" at reducing C02.
If you look at West Germany only, it's not nearly as fantastic.

=================================================

You are still stuck in the 1990s. My fantastic emissions plunge for Germany refers to what happened from 2016 through 2019.

German CO2 emissions (from BP Statistical Review)
2016: 770.5 Mt CO2
2017: 760.9
2018: 731.3
2019: 683.8
This is a WHOPPING 11.3% decline in CO2 emissions in 4 years. This plunge is not matched by any other country in the world in the same 4 years.

U.K. ~7% decline is 2nd best
Japan ~6% decline is 3rd best
France ~4% decline is 4th best
USA ~1% decline is 5th best

The world needs to emulate German determination and leadership in meeting climate goals.
