This makes Postgres more useful for many applications that are primarily SQL related but have some need for unstructured data that can be captured in the JSON format. It also makes some allowances for easier changes to columns, in certain circumstances.

I saw that and it's kind of neat, if you need it. Can the fields within the JSON fields be indexed? If not they are just TEXT or BLOB fields that relational can handle.
