Your opinion is that religious belief plus political power equals theocracy.

The problem is, your equation is missing a key ingredient. It should be:

religious belief + political power + desire to legislate religion = theocracy

Leave out the third ingredient, and all you have is a politician (like Bill Clinton, John Kerry, or Jimmy Carter) who thinks his religious beliefs are a personal matter, and should not be forced on those who don't share them.

You said Christians should not hold political power because they will necessarily try to set up a theocracy. I say you are wrong.
